AstroBoy’s New Emo Trap “Tired Of You”

astroboy

AstroBoy is the professional name of Gabriel Obmann, an emerging Hip-hop artist from the suburbs of Vienna, Austria. Although he is only 18 years old the aspiring producer and rapper has had a lifelong love of music. He began first with violin at a young age. From there, through the influence of his family Gabriel was exposed to music of countless genres and cultures.

Eventually he would find his voice as an artist in Hip-hop. At the age of 17 AstroBoy began writing his own music, inspired by legendary rappers and producers like Dr. Dre and Eminem, as well as more recent superstars like Juice WRLD, Travis Scott, and Trippie Redd. He made his debut in February of this year on SoundCloud with the single “Girl.” He followed shortly thereafter with the “All in my Head ” which has earned over 6K spins as of this writing.

“Tired of You” is the latest single from AstroBoy, released to SoundCloud on May 14, 2021. The track opens as a melancholy piano ballad. Soon the beat drops and joins that minor key piano progression for a mellow Emo Trap groove. The singer enters the mix with a cool confidence, easily sliding between a melodic rap and soulful Pop vocals. It’s a great sound, made all the more impressive by the fact that Gabriel has not yet even graduated high school. He hopes his music can connect emotionally with other young people experiencing similar situations.

I sometimes use music as an outlet because my lyrics reflect events that happened to me in one or the other way and my motivation is to make people relate to what I say in my songs. I want them to know that whatever they’re going through, whether it’s heartbreak or another devastating situation, they are not alone.
