Zinga is the professional name of singer/songwriter Shayan Ali. Although currently based in Chicago, he is a broadly versatile artist with international roots and a wildly eclectic sound. Born in Bangladesh and raised in Dhaka, his creations embody a World Beat vibe with elements of Pop, Latin, Dance and Rock & Roll.
Music runs in the family. Shayan’s father Shafaat Ali is a pioneer of pop music in Bangladesh. He first established the title ‘Zinga’ in 1963, a shortened version of the Spanish word ‘zingaro’ which means ‘gypsy.’ It’s a term that accurately describes world traveler Ali’s diverse musical palette. He makes his debut in 2021 with four singles released so far.
“Dance With Me (Baila Asi Remix)” is the latest single from Zinga, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 1, 2021. The track rolls on an upbeat dance groove that combines traditional styles and instrumentation with a modern aesthetic. A Latin dance heartbeat drives the song as a multicultural mix of a European and Asian sounds flow in and out of the groove. The singer collaborated with Los Angeles emcee and producer Malachi Mott who lends a nice rap hook in the bridge. The song has a great summertime block party vibe.
