NotaSlave is an emerging Hip-hop artist signed to Victery Records. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois but spent some time during high school in Gary, Indiana, the home of the legendary Jackson family. While there he would walk past the Jackson house every day on the way to class. Their presence and that daily reminder lit the spark that ultimately inspired him to pursue a life in music. Michael Jackson in particular was a major influence on the aspiring artist’s work.
In 2019 NotaSlave made his debut with the single “Fire Within.” Since then he has dropped a dozen more tracks and connected with fans around the world. With 1500 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, his songs count their spins in the tens of thousands. Now he has a brand new single which is already blowing up.
“House Party” is the latest track from NotaSlave, released worldwide on March 1, 2021. The song rolls on a funky Lo-if Trap beat paired with a rockin’ guitar. Meanwhile NotaSlave rhymes and sings about taking control of the festivities at a party. It’s a fun song but with a serious side as well, touching on issues of self esteem and self worth. That sort of deeper meaning to the music is nothing new for a rapper who always looks beneath the surface for some hard truths.
Whether the songs are playful, serious, or dark, there is a truth in all of them that most people don’t want to face.
