$uli is a singer, songwriter, producer and beatmaker from Brooklyn, New York. Although the multi-talented aspiring Hip-hop artist is just 21 years-old, he’s been at this for awhile. He started making beats 7 years ago when he was only 14. Early on he was influenced by mainstream Hip-hop artists like; Eminem, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar. However, in recent years his tastes have gotten a bit more complex. He says, “As I’ve aged I started getting into more moody, atmospheric music. My main influences now are Travis Scott, Lil Baby and Young Thug.”
About a year ago $uli began dropping beats, collaborations and solo tracks on his SoundCloud. Now he is making his wide distribution debut with the single, “Temptations.” As he produced and performed everything on the song, it is an excellent showcase for his many talents. On the track he matches a dramatic piano track with a smooth Trap beat and deeply personal lyrics. “Temptations” deals with the difficult and complicated subjects of addiction, withdrawal and the will power required to defeat them both. He tells an emotionally powerful tale with poetic lines like, “I’m going through withdrawal. It’s like a leaf dropping in the Fall. Can’t hold on no longer.”
This song was inspired by a dark moment in my life that many can relate to. How temptations and the feelings of guilt can slowly eat away until we end up somewhere we never thought we would be.
