MTP is the professional name of Matt Perry, an emerging Hip-hop artist from the town of Sicklerville in Central New Jersey. Although he is just 21 years-old the rapper has been making music for years. He got his start when he was just 9 years-old. About 5 years ago he began dropping tracks on his SoundCloud and now has an extensive catalog of singles and mixtapes. On June 11th he will release his debut full length album “Glass Box.”
“Have Nots” is the new single from the forthcoming MTP album. The song’s video was released to YouTube on May 28, 2021. The track is an honest and deeply personal recount of the rapper’s formative years. A dark and dramatic piano introduces the tune. Soon a low and slow Trap beat drops as MTP enters the mix. With a rapid-fire, chopping lyrical rap the emcee delivers his story. With impressive flow and technique the rapper tells an autobiographical tale of coming up hard, family drama and financial and personal struggles. It’s a confessional tale of poverty, substance abuse and ultimately rising above his meager beginnings as a “have-not.” It’s a powerful narrative as told by a talented young rapper.
MTP’s full album “Glass Box ” will be available everywhere on June 11, 2021. On the record he is joined by a string of collaborators including; Micah Jackson, Sammy2x, Mista60shotz, Mir Fontane, and Doubleupcole. The rapper has a number of subsequent singles and videos planned in conjunction with the album release. Check out the video for “Have Nots” below.
