YOUNGMETALGOD is an emerging experimental Alt/Hip-hop artist born and raised in Toronto, Canada. The rapper makes his debut in 2021 with a sound equally influenced by modern Lo-fi grooves and classic stoner Hip-hop. He lays down a chilled downtempo groove that defies easy classification.
The rapper’s super-chilled style can be attributed in part to the wide range of artists he cites as inspiration. They include; Bob Marley, Wu-Tang Clan, Drug induced Freestyle Jazz, Yaeji, Jay Electronica, and the late MF Doom. His sound also brings to mind 90’s hippie Hip-hop from ‘Native Tongues’ groups like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest.
“Quadzilla” is the debut single from YOUNGMETALGOD, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 20, 2021. An ode to weed and all of its wonders, the track rolls on chill old-school Boom Bap beat. Low P-Funk style synth bass tones and mellow keys create a laid back mood. As the rapper enters the mix we first hear him getting high, and then rapping about being high. He sets the perfect vibe as smooth electric piano chords float through the song and those subterranean bass tones hold down the bottom.
