Attorneys with Swag is a Hip-hop group of minority professionals who write songs which address financial and legal concerns important to the community. They do so to educate and empower the diverse communities of color in which they reside. Their sole mission is to empower the masses with an understanding of the law, while keeping it real at all times.
“Red and Blue” is the latest single and video from Attorneys with Swag. Released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 13, 2021. The track is the second release from Attorneys with Swag after last year’s “Deduct it.” That track was a fun song which provided financial advice at tax time. On the new single the group takes a much more serious turn. The song addresses an issue and the top of the headlines in 2021. At the heart of the Black Lives Matter movement is the harassment and violence perpetrated by law officers against black people.
Ominous minor-key synths and piano introduce the track. The rappers drop a real-life anecdote of one young attorney pulled over for driving while black. A downtempo, old school Hip-hop 808 beat plays sporadically as the ensemble team takes turns elaborating on the frequency and severity of the issue. It is a powerful tale, made especially more so when delivered by a group of attorneys. It drives home the point that racial profiling is real and prevalent regardless of the victim’s status in society.
