He’s an artist who has seen many different phases of the music industry. Inspired by his musical parents, Christopher actively pursued a career as an artist in his twenties. During that time he worked in multiple genres and found inspiration across the spectrum of popular music.
Life took its twists and turns which led Christopher the Grey to take an extended hiatus from the business for a few years. However, in 2016 he returned and since then has dropped a series of successful singles. He soon found an international audience for tracks like “Butterflies,” “Higher” and “Fall Back and Chill.” Each song counts its spins in the tens of thousands on multiple platforms. Now he is back with his first song of 2021.
“If I Didn’t Have You” is the brand new single from Christopher the Grey, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 4, 2021. The track rides on a mellow Soul groove reminiscent of late-70’s and early-80’s Prince. Live bass, acoustic drum sounds and analog synths give the tune a warm and organic vibe. Lyrically the song opens with a sexy play-by-play of a romantic evening. However, soon we realize that things have changed since that encounter. As the song rolls on a soulful downtempo Funk, Christopher pleads to his woman to return to him. He raps his regrets and sings the refrain, “What am I gonna do if I didn’t have you?”
