Barista is the professional name of Bahadır Han Eryılmaz, a singer, songwriter and musician from Istanbul, Turkey. Since his debut in 2014, the talented creator has produced a series of genre-defying releases including a handful of singles and two full length albums; “57” and “Daydream.” Now in 2021 he has released the two record set, “Open Sesame Volume 1 & Volume 2.”
With musical influences that range from 70’s Rock to modern Pop and classic Turkish folk tradition including Sufism, Barista’s sound is at once familiar and brand new. Excluding the Turkish vocals, the new album was recorded with live musicians at Carbonite Sound in the ‘musician’s colony’ of Ojai, CA. We can feel the energy of the live band, each musician playing off of the other. It’s a great sound.
“Circular Lives” is the current single from “Open Sesame Volume 1.” The track finds Barista and his band delivering an excellent Classic Rock inspired groove. The song is a powerful mid-tempo rocker with shades of legendary bands like Journey and 38 Special. Barista sings a tale of lost souls looking for love in a soulful and bluesy rasp that brings to mind the great Bob Seger. In the bridge the band kicks into some arena-worthy solos, both guitar and drums. The song brings back the power of Classic Rock & Roll.
