Abi Mia is UK-based singer/songwriter with a backstory as unique and interesting as her music. After graduating from Kings College in London with a Bachelor’s Degree in History, she took a complete 180 degree turn professionally and started her own successful personal training business. Obviously passionate about health and fitness during this time she also competed in numerous weightlifting competitions.
Last year the multifaceted young woman pivoted once again and redirected her energies toward her music. A talented vocalist and pianist, Abi Mia launched her solo career in October of 2020 with the release of her single, “Fly Your Way.” The prolific songwriter and recording artist has followed with a series of six more singles in recent months. Specializing in emotionally powerful Pop and Electro-Pop ballads, Abi Mia cites some of the biggest names in popular music as inspiration; Demi Lovato, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Sara Bareilles and BTS.
Listeners worldwide have responded to Abi Mia’s deeply personal style. Recent tracks like “Checking In” have received hundreds of thousands of spins on multiple platforms. On June 11, 2021 the singer released her latest single, a remix of her early hit “This Life.” This new mix takes Abi Mia’s original melancholy, Synthwave-powered ballad to the club with an upbeat dance groove.
“This Life (Remix)” preserves the retro-synth vibes of the original mix but turns up the heat with an uplifting House beat. Abi Mia tells a story familiar to millions around the world in the 2020’s when she sings, “This life is so unpredictable. Yes means no and left is right.” It is the tale of one woman’s reaction to a world gone mad, and it resonates. The song’s new EDM veneer is the perfect infusion of positivity for 2021. Where are you from?

How long have you been making music?
It has been a hobby a lot of my life but started really taking in seriously about a year ago and am loving the journey so far!
Who are the musicians involved in your project?
I have been working with Noah Lloyd an amazing EDM producer from The Online Recording Studio, no one else has been involved with this project.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
I have so many different influences and I love using them to create my own unique sound. Artists such as Demi Lovato, Amy Lee, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, BTS, Sara Bareilles just to name a few have had a lot of influence not just with my sound but my overall approach to my music as well! They are such motivated, hard working artists and I am trying to emulate that!
What is your greatest non-musical influence?
My friends, family and fans are very influential on both the way I approach my music and my general energy and positive approach to my life! I take a lot of inspiration and strength from the amazing things they accomplish and from the amazing support they show me both as a person and a musician. Many of my songs are inspired by what I have seen and lived through with them and I am very grateful to have that support network!
What inspired you to create this project?
I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone a little and work on something that was a little outside my usual pop/singer-songwriter genre to uplift and bring some fun summer vibes that are needed even more so this year! It was really fun to play around with different sounds and structures with Noah, to focus more on the over energy and build it up layer by layer! I hope to get everyone dancing to it this summer!!!
What are your plans for the future (musically)?
I have so many plans and ambitions when it comes to my music! Firstly I want to keep releasing great singles consistently, build toward performing a UK tour (and beyond hopefully) and to grow a strong fan base and to be able to really connect with them! I also want to write songs for TV and film and find sync opportunities for my music and to collab with some of my inspirations (got to aim high!). I believe I will get there if I just keep working hard, be consistent and of course keep improving and evolving as a musician and person!
Is there anything else you would like to say?
Only that I feel so fortunate to be able to create music and perform and there is nothing quite like connecting with people through the power that is music! I believe music has such incredible power to do good and to be a positive force in the world and that is exactly what I want to keep pushing with my music!
