Nomen Nescio’s 5th Deadly Sin – Gluttony

nomen nescio

Nomen Nescio is a study in the human condition, delivered in the form of a high-concept Industrial Art Rock band. The Swedish musical duo of Robban Wahlberg and Mikey Svedberg launched their project in late 2020 with their debut single “Lust.” It would be the first of ultimately seven singles, each with one of the biblical Seven Deadly Sins as its central theme. Regular readers of The Static Dive have followed along as the project unfolds.

“Gluttony” is the fifth sinful single in the series. It was released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 11, 2021. The track is both a thoughtful sociological examination, and a head-banging Rock & Roll rager. Given the title of the song, and theme of the project, Nomen Nescio lyrically explores the human capacity for limitless consumption. They look at gluttony as it pertains to society as a whole, as opposed to a single individual.

The song opens with a loose cacophony of percussion that gradually forms into a hard Industrial groove with a cool Glitch beat, killer vocals and loud guitars. With the exception of a brief slow churn in the bridge, the song continues on that pounding Metal beat, building in intensity along the way. This is Heavy Metal theater at its finest; hard, dramatic and smart.

Listen to “Gluttony” below. You can also hear the track on the Deep Indie Dive playlist. Each new single brings Nomen Nescio closer to the release of the “7DS” album. The title referencing the Seven Deadly Sins, the record will include each of the singles released in the series. Until then, the band is preparing for live shows, looking forward to the world opening up for some long awaited live Rock & Roll.
