Agnative is the professional name of singer, songwriter and rapper Armand Garnett. The emerging Hip-hop artist came to music three years ago. In 2018 he had an altercation with law enforcement which changed his life. To help redirect his energies to more positive endeavours, a friend referred AG to a local recording studio. Since then, he has been dedicated to his craft.
All of Agnative’s hard work has paid off. In the past two years he has released two full length albums and connected with fans around the world. His 2020 album “Midst” produced a number of successful singles including the track “Gaze ” which has tens of thousands of spins on multiple platforms. On March 3, 2021 he released the follow-up album “Adversity.” Once again, fans are taking notice.
The Agnative sound is a melodic rap riding on downtempo Southern Trap grooves. As a songwriter, AG examines the hardships in his own life. He looks for solace in his faith, and his own determination to rise above the obstacles life throws at him. With titles like “Stand the Ground” and “Against All Odds” the new album faces these issues head on with a powerfully emotional sound.
What inspired me to create the project was to share my experiences dealing with adversity over time and to share wisdom and insights for how anyone could get through similar situations.

“Through the Valley” is the latest single from Agnative’s album “Adversity.” The song rolls on a mellow beat as a minor-key piano sets a serious and cinematic mood. Ambient synths and strings expand the sound and soften the hard Trap beat. Meanwhile the singer delivers a soulful, stream of consciousness tale of memory and reconciliation. It’s a cool, hypnotic sound.
