FunkVoyage is the new Funk-fueled passion project from producer, composer and entrepreneur Mark ‘CoolNerd’ Unthank. Working with a roster of talented guest musicians, Unthank is releasing a series of singles exploring the many flavors of Funk. The songs are all leading up to the forthcoming debut album from FunkVoyage, “Groove, Love & Protest.” Performers on the album are Mark Emory, Carlton Jumel Smith, Antonia Marquee, Francis L, Rachel Maxann, REESE, MonLee, Prax, Jill Jones, Aaron Whitby, and CallScottie. The songs range from classic Soul to George Clinton-style jams and retro Disco grooves.
Unthank’s CoolNerd Music is a division of his New York City based company, Cool Nerd Media. Through multiple modern media platforms the company creates entertainment and tech content ranging from streaming video to point-of-sale systems and original music performance and production. It is music, science and technology in action in the new era. In the case of FunkVoyage, Mark’s mission is simple. He is bringing the Funk back to the club.
“Falling in Love on the Dance Floor” is the latest single from FunkVoyage, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 21, 2021. The tune is a slow, sexy groove with shades of classic 80’s synthwave and 70’s Disco. Vocalist Antonia Marquee’s sultry vocal conjures images of a smoky mirror ball dance floor. Meanwhile a simple driving beat, a classic bass guitar groove and some subtle Nile Rodgers-style funk guitar set exactly the right afterhours mood.
