Sam Ojalvo’s New Jazz-Fueled Chill Groove

sam ojalvo

Sam Ojalvo is a guitarist, composer, producer and audio engineer from Maryland. He was adopted as a child from South Korea and brought to the United States where he grew up. Though the multi-talented musician has been playing guitar for over ten years, he just started recording and producing his own music in 2018. With a laid-back, downtempo sound, Sam Ojalvo debuted his uniquely mellow groove last year with the eight song album “Fashionably Late.” He’s back in 2021 with two singles under his belt so far.

“Nothing is Random” is the latest single from Sam Ojalvo, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 6, 2021. The track is a perfect bit of stoner Chill-hop, and it has the added bonus of an excellent guitar player at the helm. A jazzy guitar plays a simple, mellow three-chord progression. At different points throughout the tune a female vocalist and a spoken word male enter the mix. Each ruminates on the theme of the title. A low, sleepy bass line comes in and out of focus at various intervals. Meanwhile, an understated but really smooth lead guitar drops tasty blues bends and Jazz licks.
