Dom Colizzi is a singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist producer, actor and entrepreneur. He is also a guy with a pretty remarkable and inspiring backstory. Growing up in Maine, Dom had a serious speech impediment. He was constantly bullied at school in response to his lisp and stutter. After graduating he underwent surgery to correct the issue. While recovering he moved to LA and found his voice, in both speaking and singing. Out of that early adversity he forged a new musical direction for his life.
In 2015, Dom Colizzi’s childhood struggles were turned into the short film, “Somebody’s Hero.” In cooperation with the filmmakers, he even composed and produced the soundtrack. Since then Dom has travelled the country on his “Somebody’s Hero” anti-bullying tour, speaking to kids about tolerance and empathy while relaying the story of his own battles with depression and bullying. He now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. From his Music City headquarters he writes and composes music for film, TV and his own solo project.
“Demons” is the latest single from Dom Colizzi, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 14, 2021. The song is a soulful Dark Pop examination of the trouble our past can cause in our present. The singer speaks to a lover about a confusion familiar to anyone who has lived through relationship troubles and found childhood pain getting in the way of adult reconciliation. Over a mellow, bass-heavy beat Dom sings, “Where did all these demons come from?” Shuffling electronic drums and subtle keys give the track a touch of an EDM vibe while Colizzi’s vocals deliver some radio-ready Pop soul.
