We first heard from Quince & 9th in July of last year after the release of their debut EP “Clover Drive.” That five song record introduced us to a group of friends from San Diego, California who have forged a a unique sound which combines Rock, Pop, Funk and the band members’ own personal connection to their Latino culture. And they have a lot of fun doing it.
Since that debut, the guys in Quince & 9th have dropped two more singles. Earlier this year they delivered “Bad Ones,” a warning to gullible young men about manipulative women. Now they’re back with a brand new track for Summer. “Far From Here” is the latest single from Quince & 9th, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 18, 2021. The tune is a bit of summertime escape. A fun kazoo intro highlights the song’s old-timey feel. As the band grooves on a tune that mixes elements of Folk, Pop and Tejano, Eli sings of escaping to a place, “where the clear summer skies fill the day.”
With a simple arrangement of acoustic guitar, bass and drums, the trio of Eli Perez , Adam Garcia, and Marcos Orozco create a classic bit of timeless Pop. Within that simple, stripped down arrangement each player is in top form. The members of Quince & 9th have a knack for knowing how to get their chops in without overplaying. That balance of technique and restraint is no small achievement. Their keen Pop sensibilities and radio-ready vocals make their vibe all the more impressive.
