Jetlag Girl is the professional name of Indie music duo, Christian Turner and Christian Thompson. The two met when they were still teenagers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and found a shared interest in electronic music. Soon they began DJing at parties and clubs. Eventually they decided to branch out beyond the decks and begin creating their own original music. In 2017 they released their debut EP, and Jetlag Girl was born.
As the band progressed, their sound evolved. Out of their early all-electronic beginnings sprung a more hybrid vibe. They introduced elements of mellow Indie-Rock into the mix and created something entirely new. Since then they have released a handful of singles with much more music planned for 2021. “My Boy” is the latest single and video from Jetlag Girl, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 18, 2021. A breezy bit of Summer-ready Indie-Pop, the song rides on a laid-back Lo-fi beat. A clean guitar plays a dreamy arpeggio while the bass and rhythm double on a simple, bouncy chord change. 8 Questions with Jetlag Girl
Where are you from?
Christian Thompson is from Dallas, TX and Christian Turner is from Baton Rouge, LA.
How long have you been making music?
We have been making music for just under 9 years. We started in 2012 as high schoolers producing remixes on FL Studio as a separate project for dance music until creating the Jetlag Girl project in 2016/2017. But we really have only been making this particular guitar-based sound for about a year now.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
They are constantly changing and evolving, but a few big ones would be The Beatles, The Arctic Monkeys, Mac Demarco, Cage the Elephant, Porter Robinson, Queen, and The Growlers. We could list so many though.
What is your greatest non-musical influence?
Probably our parents to be honest. They made us who we are and gave us our first influences musically.
What inspired you to create this project?
My dog, Obi, was the inspiration behind the song. It was the first track I wrote over the quarantine period, so I wasn’t thinking too deeply about lyrical content. My two dogs were sitting beside me as I was writing the guitar chords, and writing about my first dog, who I love so much, just seemed so easy, and frankly it was! What are your plans for the future (musically)?
Well, over the quarantine period, we had no shows to play and nothing but time so we wrote and recorded a lot of new music; More music than we had ever made in that short of a period. It’s taken a while to finalize it all, but we’re so close and just excited to put it all out and get to writing some new stuff. It would be great to get back to live shows as well. We’re going to be doing things a bit different since we have added the guitars, bass, and singing. We felt like DJing wasn’t really the best fit anymore.
