Iliad Korin is an independent musician from Utah making his professional solo recording debut in 2021. With a wildly eclectic multi-genre sound he creates adventurous, guitar-centric instrumental music. Though he humbly refers to himself as a bedroom producer, Korin’s first single is a beautifully recorded and expertly executed bit of high-octane virtuosity.
“MagmaDiver” is the debut single from Iliad Korin, released worldwide to all major streaming services on July 2, 2021. The track opens on a lo-fi Jazz groove. However, soon the full mix comes into focus and that smooth jazzy guitar is joined by the heavy crunch of power chords. The track temporarily explodes into a Metal onslaught before mellowing out to a chill, melodic interlude. Joe Calderone adds some smooth bass to an impressive fusion drum groove.
As the song progresses the arrangement grows in complexity. Through all the track’s permutations, Iliad Korin’s guitar sits at center stage as he alternates between pristine melodic interludes and smoking metal shredding. In its final act, the piece explodes into 90 seconds of double kick drum power, a soulful sax solo from Hugo Lee and wild guitar solos. It’s an impressive debut, and a lot of fun to listen to.
