Kill My Coquette – L.A.’s Gonna Tear Your Apart

Kill My Coquette is a punk-fueled Indie Rock band from Los Angeles, fronted by award-winning actress, Natalie Denise Sperl. Originally from the Midwest, Sperl started her career as a runway model appearing at fashion shows and on magazine covers around the world. She eventually found her way to LA to try her hand at acting. She has appeared in films with blockbuster stars like Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried and Jackie Chan and he has landed roles in smash hit television shows like ‘NCIS,’ ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and “Two and a Half Men.” Then, about six years ago she picked up a guitar and started a Punk band.

With bandmates Adam Smith (lead guitar) and Mike Evans (bass), Natalie and Kill My Coquette have become regulars on the Sunset Strip. They’ve opened for Punk heroes like Bad Religion and they’ve earned regular spins on the historic LA radio station KROQ and globally on Sirius XM. Since their debut the band has dropped a steady string of singles. 2021 has turned out to be a particularly prolific year for the group with four tracks released so far.

“L.A.’s Gonna Tear You Apart” is the latest single from Kill My Coquette, released worldwide to all major streaming services on July 9, 2021. With Smith and Evans’ raw power guitar assault and Denise’s curled-lip sarcastic snarl, the band conjures the energy and attitude of their Punk and Alternative Rock forefathers and mothers. Their sound harkens back to the great CBGB heyday of 1970’s NYC, Midwest Proto-punk legends like The Stooges and MC5 and LA’s groundbreaking The Runaways. The song rides on a percussive power chord groove as Sperl sings a (presumably autobiographical) tale of a young girl from a small town seeking fame in Tinsel Town. Meanwhile naysayers around her try to stifle her dreams.

The song is a high-octane rocker with all of the attitude and sneer of the best classic Punk. It’s a lot of fun. Check out the lyric video for “L.A.’s Gonna Tear You Apart” below.
