Kode Knox is the professional name of Kevin R Garcia, a multi-talented rapper, wellness coach, inspirational speaker and author. Growing up he split his time between the East and West Coast, moving back and forth between California and his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. Now based in Atlanta, Georgia the inspirational artist uses his many public platforms to help others reach their higher selves.
His career has brought him to share the stage with giants like Eminem, Ludacris, Fabolous, 50 Cent and many more. In 2007, when his music career was at its peak, he stepped back from the spotlight and took an extended hiatus to focus on his family. Now he is back with a new project called “Higher Self vs. Lower Self: The Fixtape.” He shares his music and his insight via his website iamkodeknox.com.
“Who Am I” is the first single from Kode Knox’s new album. On the track, he delivers a powerful confessional rap over a dramatic downtempo beat that combines elements of old-school and Trap. The rapper examines his own life to help define who he is today and what he has learned from his experiences. He shares those lessons and offers advice toward enlightenment.
The style and content of his writing bring to mind some of the legends of Hip-hop’s golden era, when artists like Chuck D and KRS-One delivered rhymes with substance. Kode Knox refers to his music as “Edutainment.” With a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and certifications as a yoga instructor, reiki practitioner and a life coach, educating others comes naturally to him.
