We first heard from Kev Gray and The Gravy Train in January of this year upon the release of their single “2020 Love Song.” Gray is a British singer/songwriter based in Japan who recruits talented musicians from around the world to perform in his Gravy Train. The world was still deep in the throes of the pandemic when he delivered his heartbreaking guitar/piano ballad about being, “locked down in my empty home.” The song was a perfect mirror of the reality people across the world were experiencing. We felt those lyrics as we too sat by the telephone waiting for a connection.
“Time to Live Again” is the latest single and title track from Kev Gray and The Gravy Train’s forthcoming album. Once again the singer is giving voice to the sentiment of the masses. However, this time it is celebratory. He’s looking at the end of lockdowns and social distancing and embracing the return to community. The band grooves on an upbeat, 80’s inspired Pop/Rock track as Kev Gray sings, “It’s our time now. Time to live again.” The catchy tune is paired with an inspirational video featuring images of joyful people emerging from their solitude reveling in the opportunity to simply dance with one another.
This time around the Gravy Train features legendary drummer and Grammy Winner John “JR“ Robinson, German funk guru Oliver “JABBA“ Frerichmann on the bass and Giacomo Pasquali from Italy on guitar.
