Jared Matthew is a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer from Wilmington, North Carolina. In 2021 he’s making a comeback of sorts after a lengthy hiatus. Back in the day Jared performed as ‘J. “came up.” is the brand new single from Jared Matthew, released worldwide to all major streaming services on July 30, 2021. The track is the first single from his forthcoming album due to hit all platforms in August. The song’s smooth Soul groove features a jazzy guitar and bass riff riding on a chill Trap beat. It’s a cool and mellow summertime jam. The rapper matches that vibe with a skillful and laid-back flow.
Lyrically “came up.” finds the rapper looking back at the years that have passed and assessing the ways in which his priorities have changed. He rhymes about coming up through some hard times with no money in his pocket. He turned that trend around and is living large once again. However, by the third verse we realize that Jared has reached an epiphany. It’s not the money that’s made him happy. It’s people, and love.
