Colt Liles is an independent singer, rapper, songwriter and professional photographer from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His two creative passions were each the product of the other. Colt was inspired to write songs through his photographic work, documenting well-known artists in their essence. He ultimately came to launch the Indie Label SeaDog Records™ with fellow musicians Caleb James Smith and Drvke Beats.
The singer made his solo debut in 2020, and he hit the ground running. Since then, Colt Liles has produced a remarkable output of new music. With two albums and a half dozen singles since 2020, the prolific artist has already amassed an impressive catalog of laid-back Hip-hop and soulful R&B/Pop.
“Hometown Hero” is the latest single from Colt Liles with a brand new video released worldwide to YouTube on June 3, 2021. The track opens on a sample of classical piano and strings. Soon a smooth downtempo Trap beat with a little old-school groove drops and the rapper joins the mix with cool rhythmic and rapid-fire flow.
Lyrically the song is a motivational, inspirational reminder that we are better than any bad situation we find ourselves in. The overarching message is to get up and do something. As Colt sings in the song’s memorable chorus, “If this life isn’t what you wanted then why don’t you change it.”
