Darren Rampton’s Uplifting New Groove

darren rampton

Darren Rampton is a classically trained singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist composer who has been making a name for himself in the United Kingdom and beyond since the release of his 2014 debut EP “Just in Time.” High-profile media exposure followed, including a coveted feature on BBC Introducing and a placement in the semi-finals of the prestigious ‘Open Mic UK’ competition for his single “The Ballad of Emily White.” He followed that success with the 2006 EP “Paint it White” which featured vocalist Yasmin Corrigan. On August 20th Darren will release his long-awaited follow-up EP, the 4 song ‘Believe It’s True.’

“Try” is the first single from the new EP, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 13, 2021. Once again he has teamed up with Ms. Corrigan for this inspirational tune. The song opens with Yasmin at the mic and Darren on piano, playing a melodic Classically inspired Pop melody bringing to mind the work of artists like Ben Folds and Bruce Hornsby. Soon the track kicks into an upbeat rhythm. The chorus opens up to a cinematic production as the two artists sing an inspirational duet about choosing to try to make the world a better place despite seemingly insurmountable odds.

The emotional and empowering tone of “Try” carries through to the rest of Darren Rampton’s forthcoming EP ‘Believe It’s True.’ From the emotional and motivational “Dance Again” to the wistful nostalgia and optimistic look forward of the Synth-Pop ballad “Stronger,” the singer delivers David & Goliath like tales of average people raising themselves up to face a new day. Throughout the record he experiments with different flavors of modern Pop as on the Maroon 5 inspired Funk of “Wait for My Love.” It’s a great record from a talented musician who is not afraid to expand the parameters of his sound.
