Tone Ross Drops Hard Drill Trap Pressure

tone ross

Tone Ross is a fast emerging independent Hip-hop artist out of Chicago, Illinois. He started making music years ago, first rapping in private and then appearing as a collaborator on other artists’ projects. Now at the prompting of his friends and fans, the rapper is making his professional solo recording debut.

“Pressure” is the brand new full length album from Tone Ross, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 6, 2021. The eleven track record is a hard Trap chronicle of the rapper’s exploits while hustling on the streets of Chicago. In a series of downtempo Hip-hop grooves he and his crew relay tales of making money and navigating a terrain women, drugs and haters from all sides.

Musically, “Pressure” combines slow and low Trap beats with cinematic samples of strings, ambient keys and dark and moody vibes. Songs like “Float,” “No Cap” and “Pilot” mix psychedelic vocal effects and backward backing tracks to create trippy spaced out grooves. Titles like “Showtime” and “Movie” hint at the loose Hollywood theme that flows throughout the record. From the funky piano bass line of Batman/Joker shout-out “Heath” to the X-Files vibe of “RockBoy Lit,” Tone Ross tips his hat to the stars and sounds of the TV and Film.

Although this is Tone Ross’ debut release, it is clearly not his first time stepping up to the mic. As an emcee he drops bars with the technique of a seasoned professional. With a smooth and confident flow and clever wordplay throughout, he delivers smart and street-savvy anecdotes. He goes hard from the intro to the “The Message (Outro).” However, he and guest rappers Trillz Nation and Darko Cannon infuse even the darkest Drill rap with a healthy dose of comedy. Guest vocalist Te’a Songbird adds a bit of Soul to mellow grooves “Pilot” and the sexy slow jam “Phone.”

Chi Town to yo town. If you don’t know me I bet yo bitch do so get in tune.
