Tuesday X is the professional name of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Seth Babbitt. A native of Fargo, North Dakota, he started the project in 2015. Since that time the prolific Indie-Pop bedroom producer has amassed an impressive catalog of original material. He has dropped seven full length albums to date with three of them arriving during the particularly productive lockdown of 2020. He has also released a series of singles along the way and recently delivered his first new music of 2021.
“Bad Thoughts on My Mind” is the latest single from Tuesday X, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 3, 2021. The track opens with a minimalist and melodic piano riff. The mix gradually evolves to include an organic ensemble of piano, bass and drums. A percussive shuffling groove carries the tune forward as Babbitt delivers a lo-fi Emo meditation on depression and anxiety. It is a deeply personal and emotional narrative which is punctuated by the telling refrain, “Just don’t leave me with the bad thoughts on my mind.”
Lyrically the song describes feelings of agoraphobia, isolation, and general anxiety while learning to navigate these feelings without becoming a burden on anyone.
