Grimeyowe is a fast emerging Hip-hop artist from Los Angeles, California. The up and coming rapper has been making music for about two years and dropped his first tracks to SoundCloud in 2020. Since then, the prolific emcee has dropped a string of follow-up singles. Earlier this month he made his wide distribution debut with his first single available on across multiple platforms.
“Fallin” is the latest single from Grimeyowe, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 20, 2021. The track opens with the cinematic vibes of ambient synths, the sound of horns in the distance and some trippy vocal samples. Soon the beat drops and the rapper enters the mix. Over a low, hard Trap groove he delivers a tale of self-reliance and avoiding the kind of peer-pressure and herd mentality that drives others to make bad choices.
He has a great technique and with a style that manages to simultaneously sound both laid-back and deadly serious. Playing with rhythm a bit, near the end of the track he changes up his flow for a cool dramatic effect. Lyrically the track is rife with clever lines. For instance, rapping and singing about ditching haters and negative influences he says, “Had to cut the grass, too much snakes in my way.” Smart stuff.
DMX inspired me to create this track. RIP to him. He was a legend.
