Todd Michael Bradt is an independent singer/songwriter from St. Paul, Minnesota. Since early in 2020 he has produced a string of singles including five new tracks in 2021. The singer calls his sound “dynamic indie-spiritual-rock,” an apt descriptor on all points. With equal parts 80’s singer/songwriter Alt-Rock and modern Indie, he creates musically engaging Folk-infused Indie Rock with sophisticated arrangements and heady themes of life and spirituality.
“The Way Home” is the latest single from Todd Michael Bradt, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 13, 2021. The song opens on a modern Indie-Rock groove. However, Todd introduces an 80’s vibe with a smooth saxophone and the crooner’s own Pop tenor. As an ensemble of acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums and horns paint a cinematic Pop/Rock canvas, Bradt sings a tale of one man’s search for meaning
In both melody and tone, Bradt’s voice brings to mind legendary pioneering singer/songwriters like Todd’s idol Nick Drake or a slightly more Country Elvis Costello. There are excellent performances by each musician throughout the song. The tune takes some particularly interesting twists and turns in the bridge and each player rides the waves with ease. It’s a great sound.
