Shangxien (aka Wave) is an up and coming Hip-hop artist from the Indian state of Goa. He made his professional debut two years ago when he was just 17 years old. In 2019 he released the EP “Trippy 17” to SoundCloud and quickly reached a worldwide audience. That record brought the rapper to the attention of the production team ‘Two Face Mafia.’ Since then the team has continued to churn out hits including the track “Identity” which has racked up over 15K streams.
“Gun & Gloves’ ‘ is the latest single from Shangxien, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 20, 2021. With its mix of Pop hooks, Synthwave vibes and Hip-hop beats the Two Face Mafia produced track is primed for crossover success. Piano chords and ambient synths introduce the tune, for a cool retro-Pop feel. Once the beat drops the track slides into a laid-back downtempo Trap groove. Shangxien enters the mix, sliding between a melodic rap in the verse and soulful R&B vocals in the chorus. He and guest vocalist yungk4teen tell the tale of a troubled relationship and unhealthy coping skills. It’s a smooth sound with a memorable hook.
