Izzy Spring is a multi-talented singer/songwriter from Los Angeles with a diverse musical background, a penchant for exploring complex emotional issues and a love of Pop music styles from across the decades. We first heard from her last winter upon the release of “Home for the Holidays,” a song that looked at the dark side of December by giving a voice to those who dread the forced fun and unwanted familial bonding of the holiday season. In April the singer returned with “Monsters in the Closet,” a very personal account of childhood trauma.
A formally trained vocalist and musician, Izzy Spring approaches her music with the sophistication and discipline of a Classical or theatrical performer. Whether irreverent or deadly serious, she delivers her tales with the tone and phrasing of a seasoned professional. On her latest song, Izzy applies her skills to a melancholy modern Pop narrative about the anxiety and insecurities inherent to finding love.
“Magic Involved” is the brand new single from Izzy Spring, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 11, 2021. Whereas her previous work often lived in the classic Pop realm of orchestral arrangements and piano ballads, the new track is built around a decidedly more modern production. A downtempo Hip-hop beat sets the stage for a mix of low bass tones, ambient keys and a nice Jazz-infused guitar. The simple arrangement provides ample space for the singer to shine. In the early verses she sings of love’s struggles in a mellow, almost whispered tone. As the song progresses Izzy builds up to some powerful R&B soul.
