EJ Camille is a singer/songwriter who, like so many people around the world, found her story taking hard 180 degree turn in 2020. Although she has been singing since childhood, when she reached adulthood she put her musical dreams aside to pursue a ‘normal’ career. Then the pandemic happened and brought with it weeks and months of isolation and anxiety. Her thoughts became words on paper and those words became songs. And just like that, a dream was reborn.
Making her solo debut in 2021, the prolific EJ Camille has already released two singles and the 6 song EP “1:11 AM.” Her songs have been streamed tens of thousands of times and she has received accolades from fans and press around the world. With a genre-defying sound she calls on influences from across the spectrum of popular music to create her uniquely soulful and sultry sound.
“Trauma” is the latest single from EJ Camille, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 28, 2021. The track opens with a solo piano playing smooth Jazz intro before a chilled downtempo R&B beat sets a mellow mood. EJ Camille enters the mix in an emotional and vulnerable soprano. The simple arrangement of piano, bass and drums give the singer a wide open space in which to deliver her soulful torch song. She laments the passing of a relationship and her transition in status from lover to a source of trauma. It’s a heartbreaker song from a deeply talented singer.
