Shann is the professional name of Shannon DeRae, a singer/songwriter from sunny California. Although she has been singing since childhood, she had not taken it seriously until about 5 years ago. That is when she began training her voice. Early efforts involved singing cover songs along with a karaoke app. However, the singer really found her voice after she tried her hand at writing her own original material.
Making her professional recording debut earlier this year with the single “Just Go,” with its Bluesy Jazz guitar vibe, the song introduced a soulful singer with a wide range and a smooth R&B/Pop alto. She followed with “The Way You Do,” a catchy Pop love song set to a funky Chill-hop groove. The song highlights both her keen Pop sensibilities as a songwriter and her versatility as a singer, featuring some particularly nice harmonies.
“Right Round” is Shann’s third single and this time she’s taking it to the dance floor. The fun and funky dance number rides on a classic Disco beat. It features some excellent Nile Rodgers-style guitar and a slick bass groove. Meanwhile under the mirror ball lights, Shann and guest rapper Mackbo deliver a upbeat party vibe of soulful lead vocals and some cool syncopated rap and guitar sub-rhythms.
