Yan Simon is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist musician based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The classically trained pianist and vocalist made his solo entry into the Pop music world in 2019 with the single “Marathon.” Since then he has delivered the three song live performance EP “Daydream,” a number of singles and his debut album “Are There Any Rules?”
With a sound that combines his Classical background with his love of Pop music and theater, Yan Simon creates music that speaks to his own personal history growing up gay in a heteronormative, conservative culture. His own experiences have inspired him to empower others to celebrate who they are by transforming difficult experiences into strength.

“Hero” is the latest single and video from Yan Simon, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 29, 2021. The song opens with Yan’s powerful and theatrical vocal. As the track progresses the arrangement builds gradually. A driving kick drum meets synths, strings and lush layers of expertly executed vocal harmonies. Meanwhile Simon asks a potential romantic partner to step up and be the man that he needs. By the time the song reaches the bridge the mix has grown to a cinematic Pop/Rock wall of sound with Freddy Mercury-worthy choral vocal arrangements, a big rock beat and some rocking power chords.
