8 Questions With Black Heart Saints 1

Austin rockers Black Heart Saints are back, and their brand new single “Reach the End” is blowing up. The track debuted as the #1 most added on The Billboard (BDS) Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart as well as the Foundations SMR chart. The hard-hitting, riff heavy song’s video currently has over 20K views.

“Reach the End” is the band’s first new music since their successful 2019 “Misery” EP. That record landed them on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts and launched a tour that found Black Heart Saints supporting superstar acts like Slash, Sevendust, Buckcherry and many more. The group is on tour now performing shows and festivals across the U.S. and sharing the stage with the likes of Colt Ford, Saliva, Tesla, Jackyl and Insane Clown Posse.

Check out the Black Heart Saints’ “Reach the End” video below. You can also hear the song on the Deep Indie Dive playlist, or listen on your favorite streaming service. Black Heart Saints

Where are you from?

Well to break it down for the whole band. Black Heart Saints is based out of Austin, TX. The members are originally from all over the nation. We all moved to Austin to chase after the rock n roll dream. The band was kicked off in 2014.

Josh Ross – new orleans, louisiana

Mark Sean – fort wayne, indiana

Ian C.G. – Madison, wisconsin

Nathan Flores – san antonio, texas

How long have you been making music?

I think it goes back to when we were all kids. We have all been working on our skills and talents at young ages. I believe it takes a lot to dedicate your life to becoming a professional musician and some of that simply starts with having patience with time cause this lifestyle doesn’t come overnight. The guys that have formed this band have dedicated their lives to this industry which has allowed us to be a fighting force. I feel like that passion and drive shows throughout our music and performance. We want to deliver our best every single time.

Who are the musicians involved in your project?

Black Heart Saints is a quartet, allowing us to stick to our roots of bands that have inspired us. We want to create an authentic sound which gives you those classic vibes while making it sound modern and relative to today’s music.

The band consist of:

Josh Ross – vocals

Mark Sean – guitar

Ian C.G. – Bass

Nathan Flores – drums

Who are your biggest musical influences?

Well if we are gonna talk about big acts who have influenced the band, there’s definitely a few we enjoy and have created our format of writing from. But, I know there’s so much more musical influences we have been drawn to personally as well. I find due to that, it has helped us write some cool stuff and to hear some of those influences get mashed up together, can really create something special. Some of the names that we are inspired by as a band; Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, Motley Crue, GNR, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Buckcherry, Stone Temple Pilots

What is your greatest non-musical influence?

If I’m understanding this question correctly, I would have to say my family are the ones that inspired me to have this dream. I come from a family of musicians, some of the most creative and purest artists I know. Dad was a rock n roll singer til his last breath. The man had stories for days and as a kid growing up hearing about the wild nights, crowds cheering, and traveling from coast to coast, well you just couldn’t help but want to chase after those things that seemed impossible to reach. Almost like old campfire stories, wanting to take off onto those same voyages to see if the tales could be true.

What inspired you to create this project?

The band was created with the same goals we were wanting to accomplish. We knew we wanted to play a certain type of rock n roll and do whatever it took to make our dreams a reality. In an industry that demands so much to get what we call, “your big break,” well we knew it was going to take the right attitude, look, sound, and work ethic. We truly feel we have found the right guys to really make some cool things happen. Everyone has the right mindset and the stories this little rock n roll band are creating, well let’s say, they can hold up with the best of them.

What are your plans for the future (musically)?

We have some new music being dropped right now and will be releasing singles over the next few months. Our latest single, “Reach the End,” can be viewed on our social media right now. We always try to reach new heights with our music videos while doing our best to keep them fun with our sense of dark humor. If you ain’t having fun then you must be doing something wrong, those are some words we definitely live by.

That’s exactly what we are hoping to create with each release. We want to take you on a little journey with us and hope to earn some fans along the way. Other than new music being released, we are focusing our time on getting back in the recording studio, filming music videos, and tour dates to kick off 2022.

Is there anything else you would like to say?

I’ll close out by saying, thank you to all the fans, rockers, and The Static Dive for giving us a chance. Black Heart Saints hope to bring some Texas rock n roll to you very soon. Till then, keep up with us on our social media or check us out on our website for our merch store, videos, and so much more.
