Mark Imperial is a fast emerging singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer, currently based in Australia. Although the talented young artist was born down under, he was raised in the Philippines before relocating back to his home country’s capital city of Sydney. Growing up, he was heavily influenced by the Pop & Rock icons of the Nineties and Noughties. Bands like 5 Seconds of Summer, Blink-182, and Green Day all fueled his dreams of some day fronting his own Pop/Rock band. Now he is making that dream a reality with the release of his debut single, and fans around the globe have already begun to take notice.
“Heartbreaker” is the brand new single from Mark Imperial, released worldwide to all major streaming services on the singer’s 23rd birthday, September 21, 2021. The track is the first to drop from his forthcoming debut EP “Remedies For A Broken Heart,” and it is a perfect introduction to the multifaceted musician’s genre-bending style. The track opens on a down and dirty bass guitar funk riding a straight forward drum machine beat that brings to mind some of Prince’s poppier stuff.
Percussive guitar arpeggios paint the edges of the mix as Mark calls out the heartbreaker of the song’s title. In the chorus the singer lends his radio-ready tenor to a Pop/Rock riff reminiscent of his Emo idols. The song’s upbeat vibe is an excellent counterpoint to the subject at hand. Its infectiously catchy hook and the singer’s energetic delivery turn a bad situation into a fun tune.
