Poetic the Rapper is an independent Hip-hop artist from a small town in Northern California. Although he began rapping nearly twenty years ago, he waited until 2015 to make his professional debut. Since then however, the prolific emcee has made up for lost time. He has seven albums under his belt so far and a brand new record that is an international affair.
I decided to collaborate with as many artists as I can from all over the globe to make the album ‘By The Ley Lines.’
Poetic the Rapper
“By The Ley Lines” is the most recent album from Poetic The Rapper, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 21, 2021. Over the course of the record’s 13 tracks, Poetic works with over a dozen different artists. On the album’s current single “Hoodfellas,” he teams up with fellow Californian rappers A-F-R-O and Hiway.
“Hoodfellas” opens with a psychedelic analog synth vibe. Soon a downtempo Lo-Fi Boombap beat enters the mix and low rumbling EDM bass tones rise from the deep. Over that ‘old-school meets sci-fi’ beat, Poetic the Rapper, A-F-R-O and Hiway kick into a classic freestyle ensemble rap. The three emcees trade verses, dropping stories from the neighborhood and reinforcing the song’s overall theme of commitment to the grind.
