Finesse is the professional name of North Carolina based Hip-hop artist, Aja Lloyd. The DC native made her professional solo recording debut in early 2021 with the release of the album “23709.” That record introduced listeners to an emcee with a taste for classic grooves and a confessional, lyrical style.
Her songs tell the story of an artist who has seen hard times and came out stronger in the end. She grew up around drugs and violence in a tough neighborhood before joining the military at a young age. She saw war and fought her own battles with addiction. Now Finesse shares her stories in hopes of helping others fighting similar battles.

“Humble” is the latest single from Finesse, released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 7, 2021. The track pairs an old-school Hip-hop breakbeat rhythm with deep bass tones and some psychedelic 70’s-style R&B keys. Over that funky Pop groove, the rapper drops freestyle bars about being real. In a cool, laid-back flow she expounds upon the virtues of living life without putting up a front. It’s a great track with a refreshing message.
