Tyler Rivera Stein is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, California. In recent years the award-winning composer has composed and performed the musical scores for numerous TV and film productions, including the Emmy-award winning short film ‘Deviant’ and the feature film ‘Surrender Dorothy.’
Before moving to LA, Tyler cut his teeth on the East Coast. His lifelong love of musical theater led to work in national tours and off-Broadway productions. He graduated from NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development with a degree in vocal performance. His studies led to collaborations with members of NYU and BMI musical theater writing workshops. He also worked across the river in New Jersey as a composer and arranger for Hip-hop label ‘King’s Vision Entertainment.’
Once on the West Coast, Tyler Rivera Stein started his “Hire Score Media” company and soon began working on Hollywood productions. In addition to composition, he is a certificated music educator for piano and voice. Tyler has served on the boards of Los Angeles nonprofits ‘Musicians at Play’ and ‘Arts for LA,’ raising funds for low-income music programs around greater Los Angeles. Amidst all of this, the prolific artist has also found time to launch his solo recording career.
“Make You Happy” is the lead track and first single from Tyler Rivera Stein’s debut album “Promising Child,” released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 14, 2021. The song is a feel-good carpe diem anthem. Lyrically, Tyler drops a bit of Zen wisdom on an unnamed lover as he promises to make them happy by embracing the beauty of the life they’re already living.
Musically the track rides a 70’s inspired Pop/Jazz vibe. With a sound that lands somewhere between Chicago and Ben Folds Five, Stein and his band lay down an upbeat groove as a fully-stocked horn section belts out a joyful funk. There is also a really nice, Larry Carlton-era Steely Dan-inspired guitar solo through the bridge and final verse. With its healthy dose of classic AM radio soul, Tyler Rivera Stein’s new single is sure to “Make You Happy”
