‘Stuntman Sez‘ is a new international collaboration that came about when an American DJ reached out to a 90’s dance music legend. @officialdjdmc (DJ DMC) is a veteran live DJ and music producer from Marcellus, Michigan. In hopes of working together, DMC contacted Mark Quashie (The Mad Stuntman) through a mutual acquaintance. As one half of the group ‘Reel 2 Real,’ The Mad Stuntman recorded the international smash hit “I Like to Move It.” Disney fans will remember the song as the theme to the movie “Madagascar.” Since its release in 1994 the multiplatinum hit has appeared in countless ads, movies and TV shows.
The Mad Stuntman agreed to DJ DMC’s query and a collaboration was born. Quashie brought on his friends General Levy and Kid G to bring to life an idea he had for an ensemble rap. The multi-genre dance track “Stuntman Sez” is the result. Over an up-tempo beat that mixes multiple styles of EDM and Caribbean music, The Mad Stuntman commands his audience. Kid G drops a verse of Latino Hip-hop style and General Levy delivers some of the fastest Dancehall chopping you’re likely to hear anywhere.
DJ DMC’s beat is a wild mix of Dancehall, Soca and Latin House rhythms. The track opens with a hard four-on-the-floor kick drum as the singers call the party people to the dance floor. From the first beat the groove pops with energy, and the heat keeps rising from there. As the song progresses DMC mixes in plenty of percussive Caribbean flare and melodic EDM synths.
