Dez Rocket is a singer, songwriter and guitarist launching a new phase of his musical career in 2021. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dez has spent most of the last two decades playing in bands, acting and modeling in Southern California. Throughout those years he travelled the country, fronting groups like the popular Alternative Rock band Chongo Guru.
Earlier this year, Dez Rocket began releasing a series of singles. Each was a precursor to the singer’s debut solo album ‘Dezert Rocket’ released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 8, 2021. The ten song collection is a genre-bending Alt-Rock concept album about “humanity’s current ascension into 5D or fifth density-dimension, also referred to as the Age of Aquarius.” From a guitar driven Alt-Rock foundation, Dez creates a wild sound marked by powerful vocals, insightful lyrics, funk grooves and killer riffs.
“Shocktane” is a new single and video from Dez Rocket’s album. The song opens with Dez at the mic, accompanied by a grungy guitar. Through the verse he alternates between a soulful lead vocal and a melodic rap as a low synth bass and some funky guitar arpeggios create an ever building tension. The full band kicks in when the song breaks into its big Alt-Rock chorus, driven by an immediately memorable guitar riff and layers of vocal harmonies. The song’s clever video features the singer playing the role of everyman. Staring blankly at a television screen he is bombarded with an information overload of news, booze and Pop culture noise. Ultimately the cacophony of modern society finally drives him to the brink of insanity.
SHOCKTANE – becoming numb or in shock when surrounded, bombarded and energetically attacked by an overwhelming amount of insanity and negative manipulation; feeling lost, disoriented and bewildered in a cruel world.
