Elise Palmer is an independent singer/songwriter, born and raised in South East London, United Kingdom. She made her debut in 2018 with the single “Turn Up.” That track introduced listeners to talented young artist with R&B soul and a taste for Pop hooks and dance grooves. After a series of collaborations and covers, she returned earlier this year with the new original song “Baby Girl.” That track delivered a powerful tale of the world’s forgotten children, set to a funky Caribbean groove. Once again the singer pairs hard hitting social commentary with an infectious Pop groove. Musically, the track combines a modern Indie-Pop hook with Disco House beats, retro New Wave synths and a soulful vocal. Throughout the song Elise Palmer delivers a clever call for gender equality. Like a modern day ‘Just a Girl,’ the song calls out strong women by sarcastically mimicking society’s criticism of them. Then, in a catchy chorus Elise offers the witty tongue-in-cheek apology, “I guess that’s just the man in me.”
