Dave Vargo is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from New Jersey with a storied past and new music on the way. A veteran of both stage and studio, Dave spent years as a sideman for legendary singers Whitney Houston and Phoebe Snow. In the time since those high-profile gigs he has released a string of successful solo projects.
In 2019 Dave Vargo released his second album, the 11 song collection “Spaces in Between.” That record connected with both critics and fans, its tracks now counting their spins in the hundreds of thousands across multiple platforms. In March of 2020 the singer planned to record a follow-up album, but then the pandemic happened.
To stay active and connected to fans during lockdown, Dave Vargo launched the popular “2 For Tuesday” live video series on his Facebook page. On the weekly mini-show he and a special guest would play two songs, one original and one cover. The show was a hit and a great outlet for the restless musician. However, once the world began to open up, he was soon back on tour and back in the recording studio.
“Fault Lines” is the brand new single from Dave Vargo. Pre-released exclusively to SoundCloud, the song is a peek at the songwriter’s forthcoming third album. It is a warning of sorts, inspired by a trip Vargo took to Nashville, Tennessee. In Music City he found some of the greatest talents in the world competing for attention in the famously cut-throat music business.
The track opens on a Bluesy, Americana acoustic guitar riff. A bass guitar and drum shuffle enter the mix as Dave Vargo delivers his poetic tale of disillusionment and confusion. Although the track was inspired by a specific event in the singer’s own life, as he sings “Hard to know which way to turn,” Dave’s words will ring true to all who have ever felt lost. As the song progresses the arrangement expands to include lush backing vocal harmonies and some smooth electric guitar Blues.
