Electric Poets’ New Belarusian Metal Groove

Electric Poets

Electric Poets are a modern Hard Rock band from the Republic of Belarus. A supergroup of sorts, the band consists of former Stardust Circus members Stevie Black (guitar) and J.J. (guitar). They are joined by vocalist Dima Shampanov (Inomarki/Vox Mira), bassist Roman Kananovich (The Stoneface) and drummer Denis Kozyrev (Stanmarsh).

The band has been gaining momentum in their home country since the release of their debut self-titled EP in 2017. That record introduced a band with a powerful and eclectic sound mixing elements of Groove, Modern Rock and classic Heavy Metal. The band has released a series of singles since then, further refining and defining their sound. Now they are ready to expand their reach into Europe and the US.

“To the Bottom” is the latest single from Electric Poets, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 1, 2021. The track opens on a dreamy and ambient mix of guitars and keys. Soon the sound erupts into a dark, Hard Rock jam. An excellent, Pantera-style guitar riff rides at the heart of the track. With virtuosic precision the rhythm section bangs out that Heavy Metal groove. Meanwhile Shampanov delivers a dark personal narrative with a tone that brings to mind the great Maynard James Keenan.
