Champp is a fast emerging Hip-hop artist from Atlanta, Georgia. Although he only recently made his professional debut, he has lived a life immersed in the music industry. His mother is world renowned Gospel singer Darlene McCoy. As a result, the young aspiring rapper literally grew up in recording studios.
Earlier this year, Champp released his first single “Guidance.” That track introduced listeners to a skilled emcee coming from a positive place, and offering direction to those who need it. His sound combines modern Hip-hop and Trap grooves with a melodic rap style and inspirational lyrics. Since then he has dropped a total of three singles in preparation for the release of his forthcoming EP “Ethos.”
“Gift Bag” is a recent single from Champp, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 23, 2021. The track rolls on a laid-back Trap beat. Airy piano chords float on the horizon as deep, subterranean bass tones hold down the bottom. Meanwhile Champp delivers a smooth, melodic rap. He rhymes about how far he has come, comparing past mistakes and insecurities to his newfound confidence and positive attitude. It’s an inspiring story set to a great downtempo Hip-hop groove.
