John DiBella – Find the God Inside

8 Question with John DiBella

Where are you from?

I am from the Philadelphia, PA area

How long have you been making music?

Longer than I want to admit to. 30 yrs? I did an EP project under the artist name Veltlite several years ago too.

Who are the musicians involved in your project?

The song was recorded in Ardmore, PA at Silvertone Studios with Alfred Goodrich engineering and mixing. Freddy Rojo on drums, John Garcia piano, Inês Rebelo on backing vocals and me on lead vocal, bass and guitar.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

I like and listen to a wide range of music. But I think the music from the 70s influenced me most. The more melody and message driven stuff.

What is your greatest non-musical influence?

Films, Books and Family

What inspired you to create this project?

The concept came to me while I was falling asleep one night. But what was more of a personal concept developed more into a basic human concept as I wrote the lyrics. This is definitely one that was crafted and honed over time. I liken it to whittling more and more down to a sharper point or finding the right pieces of the puzzle to fit together. I would like to avoid assigning a specific meaning to the lyrics. I would like each listener to decide that for themselves.

What are your plans for the future (musically)?

I write and produce most of my music in my home studio. Find The God Inside was an exception. I have several songs in the recording queue and will release them as singles as I finish them. I hope to generate enough interest in my music through streaming services and social media that it would be worthwhile playing live in the Northeast region.

Is there anything else you would like to say?

I hope people like this song. And I hope the message of it can give a few minutes of relief from the toxic culture we seem to be living in now.
