Trophy Boy is the musical persona of Alex Bar, an actor known for his roles in HBO’s ‘Westworld’ and FX’s ‘Dave.’ He made his debut as a solo artist in 2019 with the single “Weapon” and followed last year with the track “Can’t Do it Right.” Each song was an advance single from his forthcoming EP “All I Hear Is You Screaming My Name,” delayed by COVID-19 but now ready for primetime.
“T.O.F.U.” is the latest and third single from the forthcoming EP, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 29, 2021. The track is a chill, mid-tempo jam with shades of classic 90’s-style R&B/Pop set to a modern Trap beat. Deep EDM bass tones hold down the bottom as melodic keys and backing vocal harmonies paint the edges of the mix.
As that mellow groove sets the scene, Trophy Boy delivers a sultry dedication. T.O.F.U is an acronym for “this one’s for you.” On that theme Bar sings a fun and sexy tale of encouragement. Sliding easily between a soulful Pop tenor and smooth falsetto, his performance brings to mind early MJ or some of Prince’s more R&B flavored work.
