CompositionC is an emerging rapper, songwriter and producer from Springfield, Illinois. The multi-disciplinary Hip-hop artist is a graphic designer, composer and self-taught musician with over 14 years experience. He made his debut as a solo artist in 2019 and has since produced a remarkable catalog of music including three albums and a string of singles and EPs.
“Waves” is the debut single and video from CompositionC’s latest album “Lonely in L.A,” released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 27, 2021. The record is a collection of tracks that tell the tale of the rapper’s journey to and from the West Coast to shoot the single’s video. The track opens with a mellow, downtempo Lo-fi beat. Ambient synths expand the horizon as CompositionC enters the mix with a serious tone and a laid-back flow.
The video features C on the beach, staring out at the Pacific and using its waves as metaphor for the pressures of life. Soft melodic keys and a Jazz bass line add to the song’s cinematic feel as he rhymes about the people and circumstances trying to hold him back. Guest vocalist Papa Luke delivers a soulful verse as the two artists ride the track’s mellow groove.
