NoCapShawn Drops New ‘Preservation EP’

NoCapShawn is an emerging Hip-hop artist who made his professional solo recording debut in 2021 after a decade of making music in his hometown. The rapper still lives in Camden, New Jersey where he was born and raised. His close relationships with family and his childhood friends inspires him to create music with a positive message.

Since dropping his first single “Intro” in April, the prolific musician has delivered an impressive catalog of music in a relatively short period of time. In less than a year he has produced eleven singles and an EP. Citing the inspiration of artists like Lil Baby, 21 Savage and 50 Cent he delivers personal rhymes with a laid-back flow.

“Preservation EP” is the debut EP from NoCapShawn, released worldwide to all major streaming services on August 24, 2021. On the 5-song collection the rapper recounts tales of his struggle to make a life for himself and his kids. Downtempo Trap grooves back him up on tracks like “MindControl” as he raps about legal troubles, false friends and fighting the system for the sake of his family.

On “BeYourSelf” NoCapChawn drops inspirational advice and some real world stories of working hard in the face of adversity. Throughout the record he pairs hard Trap beats with melodic piano arpeggios and ambient synths. He addresses his friends and family directly on tracks like “Couldn’t Wait” and “We Can’t Miss.” “Voices” is a real highpoint. Shawn rhymes about the difficulty of breaking free from negative influences as he slides smoothly between old-school Hip-hop, Emo Trap and soulful R&B.
