“Junk (Euphoric Mixes)” is the latest EP from Andy Whitmore, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 13, 2021. The collection features four organic instrumental Jazz, Funk and Blues tracks recorded live at Greystoke Studios by a virtuosic ensemble on analog equipment. It’s a beautiful and warm recording of some really stellar performances.
Composed by Andy Whitmore and John Isle, the opening track “Meth” rides on a slow Blues groove. Each player takes a turn in the spotlight with killer guitar, sax, keys and bass solos. The band takes us on a Jazz/Pop trip through the decades on “Pedal,” mixing 60’s keys with 70’s horns and 80’s guitar. They follow with the mellow Funk of “Mr. Cool,” featuring a nice extended electric piano jam. The closer “BB” is a slow Blues with a healthy dose of psychedelia.
To coincide with the release of the EP, Andy Whitmore and crew have produced a live, in-studio video of the opening track “Meth.” The flick features the band performing the track in real time. It’s a beautifully shot video showcasing a world-class studio and the expert musicianship of Lauren Breen (sax), Andy Whitmore (keys), John Isle (guitar), Martin Young (bass) and Gabor Dornyei (drums).
