Junior Farrer & Elia Kinnersley’s Hypnotic Cycles

Junior Farrer

Junior Farrer is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer who made his professional recording debut in 2020 with the EP “Strange Times.” That record introduced a gifted guitarist and songwriter with a melodic, Jazz-infused Lo-fi sound. Since the record’s release, Junior has produced a steady string of singles. In his music he pairs an adventurous creative spirit with a philosophical eye toward the world around him. The UK artist was raised in Bath and now attends university in Surrey.

“Cycles” is the latest single from Junior Farrer, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 25, 2021. On the track he is joined by fellow UK vocalist Elia Kinnersley. The song opens on a melodic bit of solo electric Jazz guitar. Soon a percussive groove enters the mix. From there the track rolls on a mellow rhythm that is equal parts Bossa Nova and Spanish Gypsy Jazz. Meanwhile, Junior and Elia sing a melancholy duet about humanity’s failed custodianship of the natural world. As the song progresses it gradually slides into a hypnotic lo-fi psychedelic jam.

This project was inspired by nature. I have always loved the countryside and being immersed in it. The instrument choices and bird samples try to capture this. The lyrics try to shine a light on the ignorant way we have treated the world, and realising the impact this will have.
